Mad House 4

The heavy-duty poles and reinforced seams gave me total confidence during a night of gale-force winds in the alpine. Woke up dry and warm, exactly what you need for serious high-altitude camping.

I took this shelter up a windy ridge at 14,000 feet and the cross-bracing held rock-solid through a night of 50 mph gusts. The guylines stayed taut without needing a single adjustment.

The hexagonal base design made setting up on rocky ground surprisingly easy, and the poles felt reassuringly thick. We slept through a full-on mountain storm without a single seam leak or wobble.
